Rushlift Acquires Svetruck Distribution Rights
Date: 10/12/2007
The deal will see Sleabond become part of the Rushlift network which already includes depots in Bishop Auckland, Dewsbury, Hinckley and Slough.
The acquisition is expected to strengthen its presence in the North East, Wales and the South West where Sleabond specialises in the hire of heavy forklifts, mainly in steel handling, docks and timber yards.
Chairman and Chief Executive, Peter Cosgrove, also believes the acquisition will give Rushlift a higher profile in the heavier end of the market. Said Peter:
“This is an excellent acquisition for our business and a perfect fit for our company profile. Sleabond is a well respected organisation with a solid, national customer base. We’re keen to see the business grow, as well as market “Rushlift Heavy” - our extensive rental fleet of everything from 7 tonnes compact to 40 tonnes container handlers, as a concept to customers where they can benefit from the expertise of both Rushlift and Sleabond, regardless of how they come to the business.”
Originally based in Lincolnshire, and with site engineers at Corus in Scunthorpe plus a major presence in the Teesport area, the Sleabond business will add further to Rushlift’s impressive portfolio; one that has been recognised by the likes of Infratil, Iron Mountain and BA World Cargo as ideal for national or dispersed fleet users.
As part of the Specialist Hire Group, Rushlift has experienced phenomenal growth over the past 5 years, and was recently voted one of the fastest growing companies registered in the North East. With over 150 mobile engineers, cover Aberdeen to Cornwall; Teeside to South Wales, the business has established itself as a credible alternative to the traditional manufacturer networks.
Former Linde and Lex Harvey director, Dennis Shaw, has also joined the group as Regional Operations Director, South West. A well-known face in the industry, Dennis will oversee the launch of Rushlift Heavy and the integration of the Svetruck business into the organisation.
“We have been greatly impressed by the quality of the Svetruck product", says Dennis, “as well as the attention to detail at this tough end of the market. Obviously safety and comfort are of paramount importance, and the feedback from users such as DFDS, PS Teesport and The Bristol Port Company, tells us that this is a well liked machine.”
Swedish firm, Svetruck, one of the World’s largest heavy forklift manufacturers, produces forklifts and container handlers from 10 to 52 tonnes and is a leading player in the forestry, ports and terminals and steelworks sectors. Represented by Sleabond in the UK since 1991, Svetruck are known for their high-performance components and have deliberately changed little in design over the past 30 years.
