BUILDING A PROMISING FUTURE WITH RUSHLIFT: THE GSE APPRENTICES of 2023

February 05, 2024

Apprenticeships have emerged as a gateway to a world of opportunities for both aspiring professionals and forward-thinking employers. Recognising the immense value of apprenticeships, Rushlift proudly offers a range of roles within our business, providing a platform for individuals to chart their paths towards successful careers in the Ground Support Equipment (GSE) Industry.

Let’s introduce you to the Rushlift GSE Apprentices of 2023, shedding light on their motivations, experiences, and the promising future they are building in the Ground Support Equipment Industry.

We spoke with Gemma and Mattia to understand their motivations for choosing to complete their Level 3- Motor Vehicle Service and Maintenance Technician (Heavy) apprenticeship at Rushlift. Here's what they had to say:

Gemma:

I was drawn to this apprenticeship because of the large variety of equipment there is for me to work and learn on. This apprenticeship also offers the opportunity to work on commercial vehicles as well as heavy plant vehicles with hydraulics.

Mattia:

I chose an apprenticeship at Rushlift as it provides the best training for a wide range of vehicles including GSE equipment, which I find very interesting. On top of that it provides supplementary training opportunities, such as welding and fabrication, which is something I really enjoy and would not get the opportunity to learn elsewhere.

We were curious to uncover the valuable skills our apprentices have learned and the responsibilities they've been entrusted with during their time at Rushlift. Here's what they shared:

Gemma:

As I am only at the start of my learning journey, I have mainly been doing service work on varied pieces of equipment as well as the odd bit of diagnostic work and parts replacement.

Mattia:

I have learnt a range of important skills and behaviours that are important in vehicle maintenance and repair, thanks to the guidance of the other technicians such as Dave who has supported me throughout my journey so far.

We asked our apprentices about the aspects they enjoyed most about their time at Rushlift so far. Here's what they enthusiastically shared:

Gemma:

I have enjoyed learning through hands on experience, rather than theory in a classroom. There is a sense of huge fulfilment in the continuous learning the apprenticeship provides.

Mattia

I'm enjoying working with Dave as he has been instrumental in teaching me valuable skills, I look forward to learning more about how to be a better engineer under his guidance.
