THE MHE APPRENTICES OF 2023: THE 6 MONTH JOURNEY

With National Apprenticeship Week underway, it's the perfect time to share an update on our talented MHE apprentices at Rushlift. These apprentices have been on a transformative journey for the past six months, gaining valuable knowledge and experience in their chosen career paths.  Let’s delve into their experiences at college, the relationships they've built, and the personal growth they've undergone since joining Rushlift. 


We caught up with our 2023 apprentices - Harvey, Aaron, and Crispin - to learn about their college experiences and the valuable lessons they've learned. Here’s what they shared: 

Harvey:  

College has been amazing, I have gained extensive knowledge in health and safety protocols related to painting, as well as the skills to prepare and identify different substrates on car wing panels. I have also mastered the art of filling, flattening, and priming panels, ensuring they are ready for painting. I am really enjoying the hands-on approach to learning.  

Aaron: 

I have really been enjoying the lessons that F-Tec provide, I have deepened my understanding of electrical components and their applications. 

Crispin: 

I have learnt a lot at F-tec and have gained a wealth of knowledge in electrical components.  

 

A strong support system is crucial for any apprentice's growth, and our apprentices have been fortunate to build meaningful relationships both at college and within the Rushlift team. Here’s what they had to say: 

Harvey: 

Everyone in the workshop has been fantastic, they have taken the time to guide and train me, always lending a helping hand when needed. My Mentor, Hansel, has been instrumental in my journey, sharing his years of knowledge and experience in painting. I really appreciate that Hansel is increasingly giving me more hands-on jobs and letting me work on my own counterweight truck, it fills me with pride that he believes and trusts in me.  

Aaron: 

I have a good relationship with my mentors and other colleagues at Rushlift. I have particularly got on well with Crispin, another apprentice here at Rushlift and I have enjoyed this shared experience with him as we can support and motivate each other.  

Crispin:  

I have built good relationships with everyone at college and Rushlift. Rushlift provides such a supportive and inclusive culture, I feel that I get on really well with everyone. 

 

Joining Rushlift as apprentices has not only provided Harvey, Aaron, and Crispin with valuable skills, but also has enabled them to discover new aspects of their own abilities. Here is what they enthusiastically mentioned:  

Harvey: 

I’ve relearnt what it is to work with a passionate team and its really satisfying witnessing the transformation of a battered truck into a pristine, factory-finished vehicle. This experience has rekindled my appreciation for the artistry and craftsmanship involved in this career path. 

Aaron: 

I have discovered my capability to tackle tasks that I once believed were beyond my reach. The newfound confidence and skills I have gained have even transferred into me helping out with household repairs, much to the delight of my family. 

Crispin: 

I feel that I have matured a lot since joining the apprenticeship at Rushlift, it has also helped me to see how I can better myself in all aspects of my life. 

 

This six-month update on our MHE apprentices at Rushlift showcases their dedication, growth, and passion for their chosen career paths. Through their college experiences, they have acquired valuable knowledge and skills that will serve them well in their future endeavours. The relationships they have built, both at college and within the Rushlift team, have provided them with a strong support system and a sense of camaraderie.
